The Crimson Moth (UK) Cover Reveal

Today is Cover Reveal Day for the UK edition of Heartless Hunter! Outside of North America, the book will be published under its original title, The Crimson Moth. I’ll put both covers side-by-side so you can see the differences, but first: here’s the UK edition, coming out in February from Magpie, an imprint of HarperCollins.

I’m so pleased with it. I love the botanical illustrations, the blood-red moth, and that tagline! 🤩 As you can see below, my UK publisher chose imagery similar to the North American cover (red moth, flames at bottom, dark background) but took it in a more delicate/earthy/romantic direction (alternatively, the moth on the US cover feels “harder” and more opulent).

In more personal news…

It’s been a very busy summer. As soon as June hit, I have struggled to balance writing and taking care of my toddler, who is now home all day, everyday, and knows exactly where I am at all times. Luckily, I have a very supportive family who helps where they can. It’s funny how people warn you that everything will change the moment you have kids, but you really don’t know what they’re talking about (or believe them!) until it happens to you.

Our summer has been full of trips to the park, festivals, a cottage up north, the backyard (we basically live in our backyard these days), and the beach (we are close to several, since we’re sandwiched between two lakes).

As you can see, our kid is very much in a dress-wearing phase. In fact, she’s so into dresses right now, if I’m not wearing one, she tells me to put one on. The amazing thing is that until a few months ago, she hated dresses. She’d fight me if I tried to put her in one. Toddlers, man. They’re wild.

It’s been such a happy summer, and I’ll be sad to see it go. But I’m looking forward to Fall too, with its cooler weather, slower pace, and contemplative vibe.

What I’m reading: I keep picking up fiction and abandoning it these days, which is probably because I’m in the thick of drafting a novel. Sometimes I find it hard to concentrate on other stories when I’m drafting because my mind is subconsciously still in my own. So I’m mostly reading nonfiction right now.

What I’m watching: I just finished the third season of Sanditon and ugh, I love that show so much. My husband and I also saw the Barbie movie last week and while I LOVED the dance battle and laughed out loud several times throughout the film, I was bored overall and found myself wishing we’d used our date night to do something else. (I realize I’m an outlier here. Please don’t hate me.) If anyone has thoughts, I’d love to read them in the comments. (Also: tell me what you’re reading/watching these days!)
