GIVEAWAY: Signed ARCs!
Win a signed & personalized early copy of Heartless Hunter / The Crimson Moth
Hello from a cozy cottage on a snowy lake somewhere in the wilds of Ontario. I’m on a weekend retreat with my in-laws, listening to the pitter patter of tiny feet and happy shrieks as children run amok. It’s delightful.
After sequestering myself in a quiet corner yesterday, I finished revising the sequel to Heartless Hunter (aka The Crimson Moth) and sent the new draft to my editor. It feels so good! I’m so happy with both of these books and so grateful my editor took a chance on them. Writing them has been wildly fun and intensely fulfilling. After reading to the end, I realized that I said exactly what I wanted to say with this story, and (weirdly?) did so in the form of a fast-paced action-adventure-romantasy. I can’t wait for you to read it, and to hear what you think. Only 6 more weeks until it hits shelves. (Yowza!)
Here is what you can expect from today’s newsletter:

EVENTS
I have two launch events next month. I’ll have more details on the second event in my next missive (it will be in Waterloo, ON for those of you who are local). But here’s the first one:
February 20th at 7pm, Thistle Bookshop, St. Catharines, ON
This will be an RSVP-only event since the shop has limited space. When registration opens up, I’ll announce it here and on Instagram.
I’ll also be giving away prints of K. Lynn Smith’s illustration of Gideon & Rune at both events (for those who purchase the book from the bookseller).
SIGNED ARC GIVEAWAY
To celebrate finishing my sequel, I’m signing my last two ARCs of Heartless Hunter and giving both away to newsletter subscribers. To enter, leave a comment below telling me your favourite fantasy or romance trope. :)
This giveaway is open internationally and closes on Wednesday, January 10th at midnight EST. I will notify the winners by Friday of this week.

SNEAK PEEK
And just for fun, here’s a snippet from the sequel to Heartless Hunter. It occurs right near the beginning, and is (sorta?) non-spoilery. Enjoy!
That’s why Gideon was here. To carve the weakness out of his heart by eliminating the source: Rune. And into the hole left behind, he would pour molten steel until he was welded back together. Until he was stronger and colder than iron.
He dug the barrel of his gun into Rune’s temple.
She didn’t wince or look away. Just locked gazes with him. As if she’d been waiting for this moment. Waiting for him.
“Go ahead. Pull the trigger.”
“I intend to.”
“Yeah? Prove it.”
He’d forgotten the ways her eyes raged when she was angry. Like thunder clouds. Like a storm he wanted to walk straight into.
“We both know what you want to do to me, Gideon. Well, here’s your chance.”
His gaze slid to her mouth. “You have no idea, the things I want to do to you.”
That’s all for now! Until next time, take care of each other.

Sometimes I have negative thoughts 🙈🙈 about Goldsboro Books! They helped me discover you and now they don’t bring you to UK!!!
Please do let me know if and when can I order the signed copies on Etsy and would do that! Thank you for sharing with us your amazing writing and snippets of your beautiful family life! All the best from UK
So excited for this book this year!!! Love it when you post :)
I think my favorite trope for fantasy is when there is a good slowburn tension. I’m not the biggest fan of insta love and when a fantasy builds up that romance and makes me sit on edge of my seat and sequel at the tiniest interactions, I love it. Always a big fan of dragons in fantasy, whether they are able to talk or not. Found family in fantasy is also up there. In romance it has to be the love interest loving all their quirks and special unique things about their partner!
